So here we are, somewhere that is not home as we knew it, but something different. I mean the important things; our health, the means to do this, the things that make us happy, my wife/partner in this incredible journey, and the few things we have that add value to our lives.
Destination, Mexico’s east coast or the Riviera Maya in the state of Quintana Roo. Located on the east coast of the Yucatan peninsula in Mexico; a 140KM stretch of beach towns, cities, fishing towns, and pristine beaches; Puerto Morelos, Playa del Carmen, Akumal, Cancun, Xpu Ha and Tulum. Where you can find international hotels with 5-star ratings or a palapa on the beach with the same views. Where entering the beach for a swim morning, day, or night feels like taking a warm bath.
If you are feeling overwhelmed by the beaches you can visit the cradle of Mayan civilization by touring with a group or driving along the Mayan ruins route. If you crave excitement then you can always visit the theme parks like Xcaret, Xplor, and Xel-ha. These places offer ziplines, aquatic experiences, or beautiful and extravagant shows. You can also rent a car and pick up a map to visit and swim in any of the many Cenotes where the water is refreshing after walking in the jungle to reach them off the highway.
During these next few months we will document our experience with details about how we got here, related expenses, cost of living, and general information for those planning a trip or perhaps deciding to make a more permanent move. If you have question about these and other locations feel free to join our webpage subscription and ask us questions. We will try to answer them to the best of our ability.
