This museum is one of a kind and we have never been or seen anything like it. Casa de los Venados is a private home/museum full of beautiful Mexican folk and contemporary art. The property is about 18,000 sq.ft. owned by John and Dorianne Venator. While touring the home we had the pleasure of meeting Dorianne, a very sweet and welcoming lady.
There are over 3,000 pieces of art and each piece is unique and one of a kind. We read a little about Casa de los Venados before heading to Valladolid and reviews about this magnificent home were great so we decided we needed to see this for ourselves. Our tour guy was great and very knowledgeable, he was a local young man who spoke Spanish, English and some Maya. He has been working at Casa de los Venados for years, his name was David. The home is so full of color and the art work is just amazing!
Casa de los Venados is easy to find, once you are in Valladolid it is a few steps from the main square, if for some reason you can’t find it you just ask anyone at any nearby shops and they will tell point you in the right direction. If you are ever in Valladolid you must visit Casa de los Venados.
